Terry Pappy

I've been blessed with a nearly 30-year-young creative career that I love.The visual communications industry has radically changed since I graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1982. Back then it was T-squares, triangles, hot press illustration board, rubylith and PressType. Today it's the constantly morphing technologies of PDF, desktop publishing, multiple application design for screen, social media and mobile everything with emphasis on accessibility for a growing audience of worldwide users. Tomorrow? Who knows...

I capitalized on those tumultuous, albeit educational, creative years by absorbing new technology filtered through a proven, grassroots design foundation. More recently, writing has taken center stage as I published my first book, a work of nonfiction inspired by my late husband, Chuck. Two other manuscripts and plotlines populate my hard drive and writing space, and my characters consistently tease me away from deep REM sleep.

The secret to happiness? Find what gives you joy and do that until you "cool off"—a phrase my dad glibly commented to me once. For me, well, it's obvious.

What's on my mind...

How do you like the new site? I've been retooling this sucker in between client projects and finally finished it. The redesign was primarily to showcase my portfolio in a more balanced and user-friendly way, and I hope I've achieved that. If there's anything you don't see that you'd like to see, let me know.
